Why the Beatitudes
We have read the Bible wide in July and gone deep in one book in August. This time we are going to carry a piece of it with us everywhere we go.
The Beatitudes are the opening words of the most famous sermon Jesus ever preached. In just a few lines He turns the whole world upside down. The blessed ones are not the rich and powerful. They are the poor in spirit, the mourning, the meek, the merciful.
I want these words in my heart, not just on my shelf. When my day falls apart, when I do not know what to pray, when I need to remember who I am, I want the Beatitudes right there, already inside me.
That is what this month is. Thirty days of hiding His words in our hearts, one line at a time, until they are ours for good. Come do it with me.
