One Book Deep: 31 Days in James | Heather Lyn Wilson
August 2026

One Book Deep

31 days in James. Read it every day. Pray with intention. Journal what God is saying to you.

This is not a race through the Bible. This is depth. One book. Thirty-one times. By the end, James will be part of you.

How it works

1

Read James

Every day, read the entire book of James. Five chapters. About 15 minutes. The same book, every single day.

2

Notice what stands out

Each time through, something different will catch your eye. A verse, a phrase, a word. Write it down in your journal on the dashboard.

3

Listen to what God is saying

Take a moment after reading to ask, what is God speaking to me today? Write down what you hear. This is the Lectio Divina part.

4

Pray with today's focus

Each day comes with a specific prayer focus tied to James. Wisdom. Trials. Your tongue. Patience. Humility. Write your prayer out.

Why James

In July, a group of us read the entire Bible in a month. It was wide. It was fast. It was incredible.

But I kept thinking about what would happen if we went deep instead of wide.

What if you read one book so many times that it became part of you? Not just something you know. Something you carry. Something that changes how you talk, how you pray, how you treat people, how you handle hard things.

James is the perfect book for that. Five chapters. Deeply practical. It is about faith that shows up in real life. Faith with hands and feet.

And this time, instead of just checking a box, you will journal. What stood out. What God is saying. What you are praying. A record of 31 days of God speaking to you through His Word.

By day 31, James will be part of you. I really believe that.
