We say it all the time. The battle belongs to the Lord.
And usually when we say it, we are thinking of David and Goliath. The little guy with a sling, running toward a giant, declaring that the battle was the Lord's. And then he picked up a stone and fought.
So we read that and we think, okay, God leads us, but we still have to fight the battle in front of us.
And then this verse shows up.
Same phrase. The battle is not yours, but God's.
But this time, the next line is different.
You will not even need to fight.
That is the part I keep going back to.
Sometimes God says the battle is mine and I am going to use you to fight it. And sometimes God says the battle is mine and you do not even need to lift a finger.
Both are true. Both are biblical. But we tend to default to the first one.
We think we always have to do something. Strategize. Push. Hustle. Plan. Fight. And there are absolutely seasons for that. David had his sling. We have our slings too.
But there are also seasons where God says sit down. Watch. I have got this one.
And those might be the hardest ones to obey, honestly. Because doing nothing while you are surrounded by a mighty army feels insane.
But that is exactly what Judah was told to do. Just show up, take your positions, stand still, and watch the Lord rescue you.
There is one more piece of this story that I love.
Right before this word came from the Lord, all the people of Judah were standing before God praying. The verse says the men of Judah stood before the Lord. But it does not stop there. It goes on to say they were standing there with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
The whole family was there.
They got to witness the prayer. They got to hear the word from the Lord. They got to be part of the miracle. The kids were not off in another room being entertained. They were right there in the middle of it.
I want that for my family too.
I want my little ones and my kids and my people to be part of the instructions. Part of the prayers. Part of the moments when God speaks. Part of the miracles when He shows up.
Not just told about it later.
Right there in it.
Because faith caught in the room is different than faith taught from a distance.
